About Us: 
We are a dynamic and innovative medical device startup developing a point-of-care portable blood coagulation testing device. We are a small startup team and we are seeking a versatile professional to join us as a Mechanical Engineer. 

Job Summary: 

We are looking for an entry level Mechanical Engineer to join our team! The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, biomedical engineering, or a related field and no more than 2 years of experience. This role requires strong skills using 3D CAD modeling software as well as a strong understanding of materials selection and manufacturing processes. Experience using machinery such as laser cutters, 3D printers, and lathe is highly preferred. Knowledge of Python or other coding language is a plus.

Key Responsibilities:  

  • Lead the design and development of mechanical components for devices, ensuring functionality and adherence to specifications. 
  • Select appropriate materials for mechanical components based on design requirements, performance specifications, and manufacturing processes. 
  • Generate detailed 3D CAD models of mechanical components using industry-standard software.  
  • Create and maintain detailed documentation for designs, including specifications, drawings, and engineering change orders.  
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, fabricate, test and refine prototype devices for validation and testing.  
  • Conduct testing and iterate designs based on performance feedback.  
  • Manage relationships with manufacturers to ensure quality, cost-effective, and timely production of mechanical components.  
  • Collaborate with manufacturing partners to resolve any production-related issues.  
  • Develop minimum marketable products improving on prototypes  
  • Develop and implement new designs for emerging areas  
  • Prepare and maintain formal documentation 
  • Support team efforts in fundraising initiatives and activities related to FDA compliance 
  • Handle ad-hoc tasks relevant to startup operations and requirements

Minimum Qualifications:  

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, biomedical engineering, or a related field. 
  • Prior internship or project experience in mechanical design and engineering, preferably in device development. 
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD). 
  • Strong understanding of materials selection and manufacturing processes. 
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. 
  • Effective communication skills for collaboration with cross-functional teams. 

Preferred Qualifications:  

  • Experience using workplace machinery such as laser cutters, 3D Printers, and Lathe 
  • Familiarity with quality assurance and regulatory requirements 
  • Knowledge of Python or other coding language 
  • Knowledge of acoustics fluid mechanics or related experience, a plus.
